WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Salon Chateau really does feel like HOME :)
This great location first opened as ILLUSIONS Hair Salon on St. Patrick's Day 1987 -1995, under the co-ownership of myself and best friend since the 7th grade, Paula Redden Yelverton. After 5 years Paula and I desolved partnership yet I stayed on to continue in hair styling which had always been my priority, as I have often stated "I just want a nice place to work!"
In it's eighth year as Illusions, Charlotte Watkins came to work with us as a stylist for the last months prior to the closing in 1995 (due to the sale of the building and subsequent lost lease). Our flourishing group of stylists had to split up and we went every which way to find some place as suitable to invite our clients...
Well, Charlotte and I stayed in contact during that 5 year period (we both worked at several salons during that time & were greatly missing stability due to more lost leases) then I heard from her in 1999 when the building became available again and she re-opened under the name of Salon Chateau. Perfect! I immediately packed up and moved back in and have been here ever since!
A FRESH START
September of 2010 Salon Chateau changed hands and we have a wonderful new owner Memory Green, who has also been a client of the salon and mother of Hannah, a student of Dunham and part-time receptionist at Salon Chateau. Memory recalls how she enjoyed the casually comfortable atmosphere already present and decided to invest in our stylists and our awesome location (once Charlotte was ready to move on to her next endeavor... Baton Rouge's premier designer clothing consignment shop for women now located on Lee Dr).
Under new management (Faith Deacon is our Salon Manager) and new ownership, Salon Chateau is a great place to be and a really comfortable salon to relax and be pampered from our great staff and know that you'll leave us looking your very best!!
