RECEDING HAIRLINE
Hair Cuts For Men collection
As you can see in the photo collections above, many Celebrities have altered their hairlines either permanently (through hair replacement surgery), chemically (propecia, rogaine, etc), or with the addition of hairpieces and toupees. Others have adjusted their hairstyles by styling it forward, scrunching the natural wave with styling products (curly hair, even when thin covers more scalp) or by just going with it confidently ... glorifying the masculine angles framing their face. There really are so many different styles that can look fantastic on receding hairlines ... from shaved, buzzed, short spiky, long and side swept, airily brushed straight back or greased, waxed in a retro fashion, like a Mad Men kind of swagger.
Watching Pulp Fiction (when if first came out), I gave Bruce Willis all the credit as being one of the first celebrities (besides Sean Connery/ James Bond era) who with a totally new cut, made a receding hair look strikingly sexy and cool. It was that very short cropped cut, almost a buzz that really made me (as a Stylist) take notice of this brand new trend of the times. It was fresh, because at that time men with receding or thinning hair pretty much kept to longer styles... but the longer styles don't suit just everyone. Certain men wore the longer styles particularly well.... Who didn't admire the slicked back Retro style on the dashing Sean Connery (James Bond era.. now, Daniel Craig looks amazing with his shorter crop as the more contemporary Bond.)
After Bruce.. I gotta give props to my man Jude Law.. I think he is the perfect hair style model with all his different renditions of various cropped styles, changing as his hair has thinned and receded. Just look at him! wow! he looks amazing... and the gorgeous Johnny Depp has begun receding but has otherwise thick wavy hair.. why cut those glorious locks off short.. well.. sure he would still look great.. but if you have otherwise pretty (I know sorry.. men don't like to be considered pretty but oh well.. to me hair can be pretty and masculine lol!!) ... ok..the boyishly, silky shiny hair of Daniel Craig or the thick, deep wavy locks like Depp.. it can be quite nice to keep it on the longer side too.. longer hair cut the right way has a European flair to it that I am particularly fond of.. That said.. most men seem to look best with the now classic, very short, almost buzzed look, especially if his hair texture is less dense, less wavy or less silky.. ask me.. I'll give you my opinion.. obviously:)
So now that we have determined how a man's hair line recession with the correct style can be quite debonair and distinguished, the hair style that is going to be most flattering to you depends on your personal style (conservative, contemporary or edgy) and ultimately how you feel most comfortable and confident.. how you feel is how you project to others. If you feel great...you look great.. that confidence shines through and other people pick up on that and see you that very same way. A well-groomed man always feels at his best. Keeping a clean neckline and groomed sideburns are oh so important. Longer or edgier cuts tend to have a more carefree look.. a soft feathered edge vs clean, hard lines. As women well know, carefree doesn't necessarily mean without care.. women put lots of effort into looking effortless..
In hair styling... balance is ALWAYS the key... defined sideburns and a plethora of facial hair styles can create the right balance.. giving a man the rugged, masculine look that women love. Your distinct hair line pattern, hair texture, bone structure and face shape as well as personal style are considerations when choosing the best style for your hair. There are different patterns of recession found in men.. (examples below)
