Base color dark blonde with golden blonde highlights added for dimension. Very thick, natural wavy hair with coarse texture. This combination has a tendency toward dryness and soaks up products. I like the Pureology Relaxing Serum on her hair most recently. I'm always trying new products and this one is the one I reach for the most for this texture of hair.

Elise wanted basically a trim but her biggest concern was that her hair be thinned out quite a bit. After the shampoo, we did the basic cut first, then the long layering and removing bulk was best done on her dry, straightened hair because once her hair was dry it seemed to increase in volume by 3x. After testing several products to see which gave the most results, I found that Sexy Hair product called 'Smooth and Seal' was the best. A straightening shampoo and conditioner that is formulated to help smoothe wavy, absorbent hair and help lock out humidity would work well with continued use. Today we used a semi-permanent color to add a warm richness and shine. Another benefit is added body as this color actually coats the hair and broadens the diameter slightly. Aimee is a new Mom and her Mom gave her a gift certificate for both the color and a hair cut. We looked at layered haircuts in photo books to find a picture that described best the type of layering and length she was thinking of. Several inches were removed to just below shoulder length and soft texturized layers were added to remove weight at the bottom and give more volume to the top layers, as well as long side swept bangs. Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide and Iron Silk were used. Natalie's official first highlites at age 13! (if you don't count the few we snuck in at her hairline when her Mom was getting summer highlites) We still kept them rather subtle with the focal point being right around her face. We also added a long side sweep bang and long layers at the shoulder for softness and she can easily pull it up into twist or ponytail. If she doesn't choose to keep up either the highlites or the bangs, they will grow out without any trouble. Sheri's hair is very thick with a slightly course texture. This is a totally new look for Sheri in both color and haircut. We've selected an above the shoulder layered shape that can be worn either with the natural curl with big volume or sleek and smooth with the aide of smoothing products and a flat iron. We've gone with more ash toned highlights recently because she wants to transition from an all over color and partial highlights to the less demanding lowlights and highlights and allowing her natural color to blend in for less obvious new growth at the roots. This day we just touched up Susan's base color at the roots as it doesn't need highlites everytime, and we also shaped up her long layered, above the shoulder hair cut. We blew dry her hair with a round brush and then lightly smoothed the top layers with a flat iron. Susan has extremely thick hair with natural wave. Longer layers work best as she enjoys styling her hair different ways, including pulling it back into a ponytail. We touch up the base color to a natural level 6 and add highlights every other visit. Moisturizing and smoothing products are layered throughout styling to help smoothe and weigh down the hair shaft. This day we used a flat iron to add a slight flip to the ends.
