Eileen asked me to give her a haircut that would give her hair the most volume. The shorter layers underneath help support and push up the longer top layers that were textured for movement. We touched up her roots (base color) and added low lights for contrast and depth as she already had blonde highlights.
We colored Cheryl's hair a deep chocolate brown for gray coverage and razor cut her hair for lots of movement and texture. She has body in her hair as long as it's not too long. Natural curly hair, brunette color with partial caramel toned highlights. Sexy Hair's product Root Pump Plus is great for scrunching curls. I only use a round brush for the bangs. Easy care.
After a consultation with Cheryl I understood that she wanted a long fringe neckline and height and volume in the crown. This was achieved by overdirecting the hair at the neckline and side fringe which was later cut piece-y with the shears in a point cutting method. She has lots of natural body and we recently colored over her highlights with a dark brown closer to her natural color but one that will fade away gradually revealing her highlights over time. Debbie had worn a bob shape and it looked great but this was a nice change that allowed her have a heavier bang. We decided on bangs to conceal a weaker hairline that seemed more prominent with the side part of the bob shape. I must say that this shape has sort of evolved as the cut is slightly different each time. The hair is blown dry with a smoothing hair product and finished with spray shine.. Karen's hair is very thick with natural curl. As a busy mom she likes to keep it short for easy care. The style is very short at the nape and the short and long layers are thinned for a more wispy texture and movement. We refresh her dark brown color approximately every 4 months with a demi permanent hair color that helps prevent dryness of curly hair (which has a tendency to be dry on it's own). We are working toward the style in the photo, so Fran's hair is still growing into the shape however she does prefer pushing it behind the ears instead of the bob shape. It's a nice shape and complimentary as well. Highlights are added approximately every other visit when we color the new growth to a warm golden brown. We also use additives for her resistant roots for better coverage. Alice had recently gotten highlights and color between foil packs and all she needed was a haircut today. Since it's so short, we opted to let the side bangs be a little longer on one side for a very slight asymmetrical appearance and also texturize the crown a bit for some added height. |
